User unable to log into Trello, we have a cloud instance for Jira and Confluence

Marge December 4, 2024

We have a user that was using Trello, we migrated to the Atlassian Cloud for Jira and Confluence and they cannot log into Trello.  We have no access in administration for users for Trello.  What do we have to do?

Hi @Marge !

Trello and those other Atlassian products use the same Atlassian account, but access to one product doesn't interfere with access to another.

Here's what you can do:

  1. Double-check if the email address for their Atlassian account got changed during the migration process. Sometimes things like that happen, and it might just be a matter of using the correct email.

  2. If they're still having trouble, they can go to this link to send a recovery link to that email address. That should help them reset the password and regain access to their Trello account.

Hopefully, that gets things sorted out!

Thanks Renato.. that didnt seem to work.  Our team that manages the Enterprise Atlassian Cloud instance does not have access to Trello, I dont see it listed in the products, so we wouldnt be able to add that as a product for the user?  Would this have something to do with the issue?  And her admin said that she has access?  Any thoughts?

Hi!

So, Trello works a bit differently than Jira or Confluence when it comes to managing access. You won't find Trello listed in the same admin console as those other products unless you have specifically a Trello Enterprise subscription.

In most cases, users can sign up for a Free Trello Workspace even if they're on an Atlassian organization account. They just need to go to Trello's site and sign up or log in with their Atlassian account. Once they're in, they can create their own workspace or join an existing one.

It's worth noting that Trello Enterprise is separate from the Atlassian Organization plan, so the admin can't assign Trello access like they would with Jira or Confluence.

One more thing to the original question, the migration to Atlassian Cloud for Jira and Confluence shouldn't have affected their Trello access unless their email address got changed during the process.

If the issue is that they've lost access to a specific board or workspace in Trello, they can ask the admin (since they have access) to send them an invitation to join again. If not, they should check if they're logging with the same email address from before the migration.

Let me know how that goes!
