When I entered my email address, I missed one character. It is sending the verification link to that wrong email and it will not let me change my email without verification.
For security reasons, email verification is a necessary step. You might have to create a new account with the correct email address and transfer any boards (if you did create any) to the new workspace https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/moving-a-board-to-a-different-workspace/
