Is there a limit on the numner of cards in a list?

David Duty April 20, 2017

I want to Create a board for my customers and keep up with them. I'm well over 1.000 right now. Could I create a list "Customers" and then a card for each customer and keep them in one list? Is there a limit on the number of cards in a list. Will it slow Trello down so much that it would be hard to use if I could add 1,000+ cards to a list?

Hi David,

There is not yet a hard limit on the number of cards you can have in a list, but there likely will be. We do find that once your board gets to be over about 500 cards, performance can suffer. This isn't always true—for example, if your cards don't have any attachments or Power-Ups, you might successfully have many more cards than that, but 500 is sort of an average where things can begin to suffer, and we typically recommend breaking up boards that are that large into smaller pieces.
