Is it possible to automatically check off a linked card when it's archived?

Sean Killeen October 11, 2018

HI all,

I'm using Trello to organize an overall list of initiatives, where a card may have several checklist items, each of which is a link to another card so that we can manage ownership, due dates, etc.

The question I have is, is there any way to achieve the following?

  • Given  I have a card called "overall project"
    • And that card has a checklist
    • And that checklist has a link to another "individual item" card
  • When I go to the "individual item" card
    • And I archive the card
  • Then the checkbox on "overall project" card for "individual item" card link is checked
    • Or the card title on "overall project" board is showed with a strike-through

Butler would be able to help with this.

The use case you describe is detailed here: https://trello.com/c/SWbmGNnh/146-when-a-checklist-item-is-completed-find-the-linked-card-and-move-it-to-done

The command would be:

when a card is archived, find the card linked in an attachment and check item "{triggercardlink}{*}"
