How to make Markdown language work in Trello Butler reports sent to Slack?

How can I fix text reports to show proper formatting?

I have created a report in Trello Butler which sends it to Slack (Trello and Slack are integrated).

Markdown formatting for named links, bold text, and bullet points is not performed on the report (e.g., **Report End** shows up as **Report End**, not bold text).

• The results are the same whether delivered to a Slack channel or my Slack user
• I have tried HTML instead of text but that shows all the HTML markup code
• Adding a " \n" at the end of the line pattern does not change the results
• The report appears correctly formatted in the Trello Butler Command Log

The Trello Butler report:

• every weekday at 5:50 am, create a report in variable "rcold" with all cards in list "Cold" using pattern "- [{cardname}]({cardlink}) {cardactivetimeago}", and post message "{boardname} {date} {time} \n \n**ColdList** \n \n{$rcold} \n \n**Report End** \n \n" to Slack channel "XXX" in workspace "XXX" as myself
