Due Date problems

Amy Beyer March 5, 2024

I've started having problems with my TO DO dates. I created a template TO DO checklist that I use for my weekly class. The tasks are always the same, so wanted a quick solution. The checklist just has the tasks and not due dates.

When i copy the items for that checklist, then go into each card and change the TO DO dates to when I need them to be, the dates are all showing up on the original template creation date.

I just started having this problem over the past few weeks. I've copied checklists since using trello and never had this issue. What is going on and what can i do to simplify this process.

@Amy Beyer welcome to the community :) can you clarify what you mean by "the dates are all showing up on the original template creation date." Are you setting your checklist item due dates and they're being automatically adjusted to the card creation date? So for example, you create a new card on March 6th from the template, then set a checklist item due date to March 14th, then the checklist item due date changes automatically to March 6th. Am I understanding that correctly?

@Hannah Humbert - Simpla Workflows Thanks for your response. this one was hard for me to explain. Hopefully the images will help. I created the original template card with the checklist (1st image). I didn't add in any due dates. I copied the 1st image checklist to all of my other cards. I went into the first card to set the due dates (image 2), then I added all of my due dates for the other cards (see image 3 for different due dates). When I go into my calendar all of the due dates have shown up like image 2 (original image in this post). So, yes, they are all changing back to March 5, 6, etc).

I don't know if I did something wrong in the process, but I have copied lists before and never had a problem until the last few weeks.

thank you for any help you can provide.

Seems strange! Just to clarify, when you look at the card shown in the 3rd image, do the dates appear to have changed? Or are you just seeing the incorrect dates in the calendar? If a checklist item date is automatically changing from March 11th - March 5th, it sounds like there's some sort of automation happening in the background. Do you have any automation rules set up that could be messing with the checklist due dates?

When i look at the card shown in image three the dates are kept as I want them. The only place that they are changing is in the calendar.

I have never set-up any automations and didn't start having this issue until 2-4 weeks ago. Did Trello do any kind of update?

Ok gotcha, so it's just the calendar that seems out of sync...I'm not sure of any update that would have impacted this. Can you take a look at a checklist item in your calendar that you know has the incorrect date and click the link to the card?

Once you're in the card, can you confirm that the checklist item you were looking at originally has a different date? And there's no duplicate or anything that you can see? Just want to make sure you're looking at the same thing. Also, can you try accessing Trello from an incognito browser to see if the problem persists? Maybe a cache issue?

I'm just a community member, so I can't do much in the way of diagnosing the issue, so it might be worth contacting Trello support to have a look into it if you can't figure it out.
