Card task reminders - different from notifications?

Just wondering if it possible to set a reminder on a task card that will show up on my android phone as a notification reminding me to for instance "Call Mom about dinner Friday" that would be similar to the notifications that let me know I have a text or email when I pick up my phone?

I recognize that there are "notifications" in the Trello app - the bell up in the right hand corner. I am not referring to these, unless I don't understand correctly how they work? They seem mostly to be helpful when working with others. I am working on my own and as far as I can figure out, you can't see these notifications unless you are in the app looking at the bell. Is this true? 

I'm new to Trello and just trying to figure everything out! :)

If you subscribe to the card that has a due date, you'll receive a notification of that due date 24 hours prior,and it will come up on your mobile device notifications if you have those enabled. At this time, there's not a way to customize the notifications within Trello, however there's a workaround by adding an automation bot called Butler.

To add custom automation using Butlerbot, follow these steps:

1) Add Butlerbot to your board here: https://www.butlerfortrello.com/dashboard.html
-- A new list will be created titled "Butler"
2) Add a new card to the Butler list, using the follow text minus the parentheses

(the moment a card is due, post comment "@username} This card is due!")

You can change "the moment" to "two hours, one hour, six hours", however much in advance you want to receive the notification. This will add a comment to the card, mentioning you in the comment, and trigger a notification.
