Card level permissions with labels

Giu April 11, 2017

Is it possible to limit certain users from seeing some cards on the board or rather is it possible to make it so that users see only specifically labeled cards?

If not, is there an easy way to create a "duplicate board" where changes to some cards affect both boards? So we could create one board with all the cards, and a duplicate with only cards with a specific label. So that someone wouldn't have to make sure both boards are synced.

Right now, card specific permissions are not available for boards in Trello. Once a user has access to a board, they will be able to see all cards on it.

Your best bet is indeed to create different boards with the cards required. You can copy specific cards, lists or the entire board and then remove any unwanted cards: http://help.trello.com/article/802-copying-cards-lists-or-boards

Thanks for the swift reply! Shame this isn't supported

Same - looking for this feature.  Either that or have an ability to view ALL boards' relevant cards/deadlines, etc into one view.

Same - we our team want this kind of feature: otherwise need to think another app that works. Atlassian team suggestion is helpful but bothers us to spend time to work on.

Also becoming quite the dealbreaker. Unito seems to be the only way to do something like this. Basically our solution is to have Unito automatically sync all cards from our executive-access board with a certain label to a separate board and back. Then that secondary board will only see the cards with the label, for their project.

Added benefit over the manual process is that when something is changed it reflects back on the executive-access board.

Major downside right now though is that Unito doesn't seem to be able to sync checklists within cards, as well as any traits which are power-ups.

Is this functionality in the pipeline?

I'm interested in this functionality, too.

Our team's use case:

One board for all projects, to distinguish between departments and projects we use labels, e.g. a yellow "abc.com" label (when working on developing abc.com website) and "design" (for tasks related to, well, design). This way anybody on the team can easily filter for cards they want to focus on right now.

That's how it runs internally, and no restrictions required in our small team, but when it comes to the client, we can't give them access to entire board, as those from abc.com will see cards for xyz.org project and vice versa. Having card-specific permissions (based on labelling rules, and maybe some other rules like "has comment mentioning the external user") would make our lives much more easier.

It seems like a big drawback. I would like to put personnel details in cards with each employee having access to their own card. Creating a board for each employee seems like a lot of clutter and inefficiency

Hi Gordon, @Aaron Ross @Bonny Lai @tuunixjukka @Mattia Perroni @johan

This is a common problem which we cannot solve with existing permission levels which Trello provides. But at the same time, this is the main reason why we built Hipporello power-up. Hipporello is a service desk specifically built for Trello users.  It is a service desk specifically built for Trello users. It enables external users to create Trello cards via emails and online forms which can be accessed through Hipporello service desk or embedded website.

Once the Trello card is created you can make further communication directly on Trello card. You don't need to write an email or use other channels to contact the requester. Just your agent or you can write the answer, add the attachments, and click Submit button. And an automatic notification will be sent to the customer. The customer can reply directly from email or from the service desk portal by clicking the link created.

You can check us from Trello powerups. You will find details about many more advanced features that enhance Trello's ability there and by trying the power-up itself.

Is there a temporary work around for this? Possibly creating a private board and a method in which the board admin can invite individual to cards and when the user travels to board it only displays the cards they are attached to by the admin? Can this be a custom development? This would be a significant improvement for work flow and project management.

I also would love to see more permissions both on cards and on ability to move cards.

Thanks

This feature is usually requested by my clients who want to use trello.
Is it possible with API and some extra service ? Make rules which cards to clone real time to another board, or better yet, make view of board with only pre-filtered cards visible. And have read only rigths + secret link or login with password only (not trello user registering!)
