Cannot create personnal board anymore

I've suddenly lost the ability to create personal board.

I've tested :

* to create from scratch of a board (only team is proposed)

* to create by duplicating existing board (only team is proposed)

* to delete archived personnal boards

Is there something wrong or do I reach some unknown limits?

Thanks for your help,

This is by design for the moment.  All boards will be in a team (and teams will eventually be renamed Workspaces).

If you want to make a board for just yourself, create a team/workspace to put it in and set the visibility to Private.

It took me a lot of searching to find this answer. Could you guys please update the help page.

Isn’t it updated: ”Whether creating a new board or copying an existing board, your board will need to be associated with a team.”?

I guess so. It would be nice to make it a bit more explicit for those of us used to the old way.

I have to agree with Jared. On a technical side there are probably numerous brilliant reasons for this. But on the customer side this was a major FAIL.

We have been using Trello for years, as well as trying to convince others to use it. The simplest way to use it - and get others - is just to create a personal board.

But being required to know what teams are, when you're just creating your first board is an unnecessary learning curve. You took something that has been efficient to use for years, and added an obstacle to using it... not just for advanced purposes, but... .literally added an obstacle to using it for the very first step of entry. PLEASE REMOVE the team requirement immediately

Making the team is definitely an interruption and I apologize for that.  We thought it would be better than making the team/workspace automatically for you, which was the other option.

Once you make just one team though, you should be able to go back to making boards without interruption.  The setting that used to be called Personal is the same as setting the board to Private of a workspace you are the admin.  So when you make the board, if you want it to be Private, just set it to Private and that's it.

Will the limit of 10 boards per team (workspace) continue for personal accounts?

What about for Trello gold accounts?  I understood when I subscribed and paid that I was getting a particular product - which was unlimited "personal" boards.  Now I am not getting that.  Seems like I am now limited to 10 boards

Hi Michael,

Sorry for being insistent but I have followed your recommendations :

  • Created a team (private)
  • Put only private board in this team (private board)

I face the limitation. In other words, Trello ask me to move to another subscription to add more boards. Even if the team and boards are private.

Am I missing something?

Free teams/workspaces are limited to 10 active boards, so if you need to have more active boards you would have to upgrade the team to Business Class or create another team/workspace.

OK Thanks,

It would have been great to warn us before about this major change...

Now I'm thinking of leaving Trello.

Best Regards,
