Greetings, all,
The central IT management in my environment requires a risk assessment for every new piece of software for our workstations. They are pretty strict, shunning most app add-ons/extensions for example.
I would like to give Trello for Windows a try but do not want to initiate a risk assessment without some knowledge of how the process has fared in other enterprise environments.
Regards,
G.W.
I can't share a risk assessment but perhaps this link will help you determine whether Trello can pass your company standard...
Thanks for the quick response, Mike. The page you link makes no mention of the desktop versions.
Also, I was interested in stories about risk assessments, not assessment documentation. I was hoping to see a few responses from folks sharing about how easy or difficult it was to get the desktop versions approved for their environment.

If it helps, the desktop version is just a wrapper around the web version and to be quite honest I pick the web version over the app all day long. Would that help you circumvent the risk assessment?

How do you find the web version superior to the standalone app?
I've never been impressed by a web app, but maybe Trello desktop is weaker because it isn't built as an app but rather a wrapper, as you say?
In addition to liking the idea of one less browser tab, I am also curious about resource usage. A Trello browser tab isn't the worst RAM hog I've encountered, but it's still a notable weight. (I need to have quite a bit of stuff running on my workstation.)

To be honest, a lot of mine is habit and I have never found it an issue with RAM usage is virtually the same in the app as the browser.
There are slight niggles in the desktop app, like you can't access the billing section of a workspace and the way it opens boards and cards in new 'app' windows each time.
I recently updated my Atlassian profile from the app and then it made that window the default when the app opened and it doesn't have an option to close it to go back to the Trello board, closing the window closes the entire app...
These are just my personal thoughts and I'm hoping it'll help in some way...

That helps. I expect better performance from a desktop app, not worse. Thanks for the conversation.
