My business has been using Trello for a while and just got Google Workspace. I've figured out how to send an alert to a Space from a Trello card, but I'd like to be able to notify a member of a card themselves. Otherwise the Space ends up flooded with alerts from all different cards.
To notify individuals using the Google Chat Power-Up in Trello, you can follow a straightforward strategy. Although the Power-Up doesn't directly support individual notifications, you can achieve similar results by using targeted chat spaces and manually mentioning members.
Start by creating separate spaces in Google Chat for different types of notifications or projects. This organization helps prevent a single space from becoming overwhelmed with messages.
When you set up alerts from Trello to Google Chat, direct these updates to a specific space. Then, in the message that appears in the space, manually mention the relevant individual. This way, the specific member gets notified directly without flooding the entire space with unnecessary updates.
Additionally, ensure that members are subscribed to relevant cards, lists, or boards in Trello. Trello will send notifications via email and in-app alerts for changes to items they are watching.
Customizing the types of alerts that Trello sends to Google Chat is also crucial. Select only the most critical actions, such as moving a card to a different list or upcoming due dates, to be sent as notifications.
