Billing and Guests with their own Standard or Premium Accounts

I'm trying think through what billing challenges or pitfalls there will be with the new pricing when using Trello for consulting work with multiple external businesses.

If the Trello accounts on my domain, let's call it <> all have Premium subscriptions.   And we invite Guests from another domain, say <> to multiple boards then that causes those Guest accounts to become billable to our account  <>.  

But what if Guests at <> already have their own paid Standard or Premium accounts?    Will they be billed a 2nd time to the account @ <>?     Or since they already have paid accounts, will they be able to join boards as guests with no additional billing needed?  


Finally, assuming there is no double billing.   Then what happens if guests invited to multiple boards in our Workspace,  that have their own paid subscriptions, then cancel their paid subscription?    This would cause them to become billable again.  Would there be any kind of warning in our account that those guests would start being billed to our account?   Would they just lose access to those boards?  etc.

Hi Todd! Welcome to the community :) Billing works at the Workspace level, not the user level. So if you're working with an external person, and they have their own workspace that they're paying for, and you then invite them as a workspace member to your workspace, then you'll also need to pay for them.

You'd probably want to keep these external members set to free single-board guests, rather than workspace members or paid multi-board guests. If you're able to set things up so that these external members only exist within one board (i.e. a board for each company you consult with), that would probably be the most scalable option. 

If these members need to be on multiple boards, you might want to reach out to Trello support to see if they have plans to introduce a sort of "Consultant Plan" in the future.
