Android: Opening PDF attachment asks me to download the file via a browser.

Joel Perez July 18, 2017

On Android, when I open an attachment on Trello I will be prompted to download the PDF file using a browser. This is not an issue on an iPhone where the PDF file will just open--is there a way to open the PDF file instead of downloading it from a browser?

I do have the abovementioned PDF reader installed. I have tested the PDF reader and it works fine if i open PDFs download it to the mobile device.

But when i try to open a PDF within the trello app on Android i get a message that i do not have the appropriate app to open the attached file?

Only way i can read the PDF is to copy the link and paste that link into my browser and then download the PDF...!?

Any suggestions how i can change the strange behavior?

Thank you

There is no PDF viewer installed by default on Android. You have to install one, otherwise the app will default to downloading the file, like you're experiencing.

google released a standalone PDF viewer that works fine for most uses : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.pdfviewer&hl=en
