A slow Trello board

Per Polland August 14, 2017

Hi,

I'm experiencing that my trello board is performing poorly and very slowly. There are about 900 open cards and many more archived so I realise we are pushing it in terms of capacity. The key thing I want to understand is whether there is any risk of it deteriorating further or stopping to work altogether? I will keep archiving cards so that there are always less than 1000 but I think that even the number of archived cards does affect the performance (and that number will continue to go up)

Unfortunately, I cannot vouch for any solution/answer at this stage but would like to know from Trello/Atlassian if there is any progress and action happening in terms of speeding up Trello?

I admin a few boards as well. 1 board has about 500 cards while another has 233 ... but the one with 233 is slow and lagging and often crashing the Chrome tab at times.

Please advise?

Hello Per,

Unfortunately, anything over about 500 cards will start to degrade your Trello experience. Is ther a way you can offload some cards to other boards? For example, a Backlog board or something similar? If not, then limiting attachments, Power-Ups, etc. will most likely help.

Hi Devon, thank you that's helpful. So just on the point of general "breaking point", what will generally happen is just that the performance will deteriorate continuously but there's no chance of it snapping?
