I was lucky enough to receive a voucher for the new "Managing Jira Service Projects for Cloud" certification. At the same time, my JSD certification (specifically "Atlassian Certified Jira Service Desk Administrator" (ACP-JSD/ACP-400) is due to be suspended at the end of next month (October 2021) and expire in January 2022.

To keep my ACP-400 valid, would obtaining the new certification be sufficient? Or would I still need a badge?

Noting the warning at the top that content would be outdated, https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Training-Certification-articles/Maintaining-your-Atlassian-Certifications-in-2020/ba-p/1262315 seems to suggest one of:

  • Advanced Jira workflows
  • Email in Jira
  • Scaling Jira
  • Issue Security in Jira
  • Configuring and Troubleshooting Permissions in Jira

Cheers, Jimmy

Hi @JimmyVanAU , you're correct, the extension is not automatically reflected.   There's a bit of extra complexity for Atlassian to handle here, due to how retirement dates work in the system, but the bottom line for you is this:

  • If you earn ACP-420 while your ACP-400 is still active, Atlassian WILL extend your ACP-400 as well, out until the EOL for Server, 2 February 2024.   This is a manual process we will do on the back end.
  • If you earn ACP-420 while your ACP-400 is still active and your ACP-400 expires before Atlassian extends it, we will re-activate it and extend it to 2 February 2024.

Thank you for your patience!

@JimmyVanAU , great question!

Yes, once you earn your certification in Managing Jira Service Projects for Cloud, it will extend your Jira Service Desk Administration credential from the date you earn the new JSM Cloud certification.

Update - ACP-420 does not extend ACP-400.

Raised a support ticket with Atlassian to confirm (having earnt ACP-420 and waiting 24 hours). Was directed to

https://university.atlassian.com/student/activity/836788-maintain-your-certifications#acpjsd-jira-service-desk-server-administrator-9

which doesn't include ACP-420 Managing Jira Service Projects for Cloud
