Inconsistent relationship between user stories and Epics / Parents

catalina_vrabie November 27, 2020

I'm having hard times aiming to have a report for current sprint with all user stories grouped per epics. Mainly I would like an automated perspective toward which epics did we invest in the current sprint and how much wheight did they have.

I'm seeing inconsistent links for user stories toward Epics and Parents.

  • in the backlog, I can filter per epics and see the children users stories. And if go into tickets details I cannot see any parent
  • if I go to create filters within advanced search, I can list all the user stories and for all the epic name and epic link is blank. Instead I can have the epic values dispalyed for Parent field.

I'm seeing this very confusing and inconsistent. I would expect to see same results when create filters as we have in backlog.

Additionaly, for all gadgets within I might create dashboard I cannot filter by Parent, only by Epic, which based on filters created, is always an empty field.

It seems is an end road.

  • Did somebody handle to have a similar overview in another way?
  • Still, I would request Atlassian to have a look on this case.
