How can I add a field for epic (parent ticket) in the new issue template?

When setting up issue type templates, I would like to add a field for epic (or parent ticket) to both Stories and Tasks. Is that currently possible? I only see custom fields that will probably not link to another ticket automatically. Thanks in advance!
