Unless you're living under a rock, you know that the Atlassian Summit 2020 is slated to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from 31st March 2020 to 2nd April 2020! It is one of the biggest events of the year for Atlassanians, Partners, Vendors, and Product users. It witnesses people from all over the world under one roof for the 3-day event where you learn, network and party - because that's important too!
TechTime has been sponsors of the event for the past 6 years and takes pride in attending each year. In 2020, we are again sponsoring Atlassian Summit under our Be Lazy. The Machine Does It Better brand presenting our apps EasySSO (the enterprise Single-Sign-On), UserManagement (automatic management for inactive users) and EasyTime (Automatic time tracking).
This year the onus of managing the event came to me as the new Marketing Specialist for TechTime and boy-oh-boy was I nervous. I bombarded my colleagues with questions, looked over the Jira tickets for the past events, read-through documentation on Confluence and Summit board on Trello, asked for help on the Atlassian Community and researched the internet for tips.
However, a part of me was hoping to find a high-level list I could use - I couldn't find any. And like everyone says 'need is the mother of invention' I decided to create a list:
For more information, please contact Atlassian on email@example.com
Registrations are open for the summit, yay! This a 2-3 minute procedure and you can also register additional people. If you are registering for a colleague, make sure you know these details:
You can go back and modify your registration in case of edits. In case you haven't registered already click here.
Pro-tip: Till 15th of November'19 Atlassian has a Super-Fan rate for $550 for a Summit All-Access Pass. The Early-bird passes which are yet to be released will be for $850.
You can request a book directly via Atlassian or if you are looking for a cheaper option, there a lot of Airbnbs available in the 5-mile radius. Here's a list we made as feasible options for accommodation:
Name Distance Cost Comments
|Luxor Hotels||0.7 miles||$86.09|
Available on the dates for the summit only
Reservations via Atlassian
|Wyndham Grand Desert||1.9 miles|
Has free shuttle to The Strip
Suite like rooms
|Mandalay Bay||0.4 miles||$276.64|
Closest to the venue
Private Beach for relaxation
4* rating on Booking.com
Close to the venue
|Airbnb||1.09 miles radius||$158 starting|
This can be a great option for teams on a tight budget
Pro Tip: If you're looking to stay in one of the Atlassian suggested hotels, you should book sooner than later. The special prices are only available for the Summit dates, outside of those days you'll need to book the room separately and merge the reservations later.
If your citizen of a country that belongs to the US Visa Waiver Program, you might not need a visa. However, make sure that you have looked through the US immigration website before making a decision. It's best to book your flights quickly because of the increase in price closer to the date. Also, spring break for students is around the same time which could mean that flights might run full.
Pro Tip: You should come 1 day earlier if you're flying from overseas to avoid jet-lag and in case you plan to attend Bash, make sure to keep your check-out date as Friday.
The high-level schedule is out and you can choose which events you want to attend and certifications you want to do during your time there. Registering for these sessions beforehand can ensure your attendance and your schedule is in place even before you get there.
Make sure you have the latest information about the events and subscribe to event updates available at the footer of the page. By doing this you have accurate information first-hand and no chance of missing out on the important announcements.
The Atlassian Community has a place for all things Summit, become a watcher for the space, ask questions, discuss and write articles to help fellow attendees.
Atlassian is offering discounts for team registration. To avail the discount, you need to have a minimum of 5 people registering together starting at just $375 instead of $1000 each.

Here is a Trello board you can use as inspiration for your planning. It certainly helps to have a visual representation of your plan to see how your time before and after the Summit would look.
I am using Confluence, Trello, and Jira for planning the event, and it has been incredible. We will be able to duplicate all the tasks for Summit 2021 - yes we already have that at the back of our mind.
I hope the information above helped you in planning and we look forward to seeing each one of you at Atlassian Summit 2020. Till then, like we always say...
