I confirmed on my end that the spell check works fine as per the following screen shot (Mac, Web, Windows client):
Do you happen to use the US keyboard as your native layout on your OS or do you happen to have more than 1 type of keyboard set up on your machine?
I've had this problem for a week.
I finally solved it this way:
Redownload and reinstall Stride
I imagine the solution is similar for Mac users - uninstall the app, track down every directory it stored anything in and nuke that too, then reinstall a fresh copy.
