Express Yourself Just Right in Stride

Stride brings all forms of team communication together — from team chat to video conferencing to task management. Today, let’s take a deep dive into Stride messaging. Believe it or not — Stride messaging is so much more than sending chats back and forth. We built Stride with nifty features that help you communicate clearly and express yourself just right, in any conversation.

Check out some ways to get the most out of your Stride messaging experience and let your (sparkly? witty? mysterious?) personality shine through.

What’s in a name?  Mention names FTW

Use mention names to call out specific people or notify everyone in the room.

Stride mention names make it simple to get anyone’s attention. It’s basically your very own handle, just for Stride. Feel free to have some fun when choosing your own, we’ve seen some pretty creative ones on our own team. Are you a @mother_of_dragons or more of a @rainman? The choice is yours.

Want to share an important update or announcement with the whole room? Use the @here and @all options.

The @all option sends a notification to all the people in the room, while the @here option only sends a notification to those that have listed their status as “available.” The @here option is great for when a few of your teammates are on vacation, and you don’t want to interrupt their beach time.

Say it with emojis (and make your own!) 

Never take yourself too seriously. Lighten things up with an emoji or ten.

Whether you’re fluent in emoji or just starting to add a smiley here and there, Stride has plenty of options. Send all kinds of emojis like  and  by typing a colon then any letter (like :cat), and you’ll see options populate. Or just click the emoji icon in your chat input bar and search for an emoji.

If you don’t see an emoji you’re hankering to send, create your own! Just click on the ‘+’ symbol in the emoji browser and look for the “+” button.

Give your messages some style 

Stride lets you format your messages just how you like ’em (and fix any mistakes, to boot).

Now…to make sure your text looks just right. There are a couple different ways to format your text. Either use keyboard shortcuts or type markdown into your text input bar, and Stride will know what to do — like magic!

Of course, you can also go back and edit or delete any messages you send (because no one is perfect). Just hit your up arrow and you’ll be in editing mode. Or click the three dots to the right of any of your messages, and click to edit or delete the message.
