As an incident manager when posting an incident I would like to set the start date and time potentially for manually entered status updates so that I can communicate clearly to my users when the issue happened.
At the moment I need to create the update, then reopen and edit the date time.
Is this something others would like?

You can update the components affected after you have created the incident by going to the component and changing the downtime (see image below). This can be done on a live incident as well as one already closed.
Unfortunately this won't change the fact you cannot backdate/time a new incident but when you are ready to report on it or if users want to view the uptime it will show the accurate timings.
I use this functionality when I have to backdate an incident as the times affected are not available on the backdate form.
