sourcetree is not in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

Terje Bråten August 12, 2016

Hi

I have installed sourcetree on a windows10 machine using SourceTreeSetup_1.9.6.1.exe

But when I go to a link like sourcetree://checkoutRef?ref=refs/heads/branchname&cloneUrl=ssh://git@bitbucket.org/orgname/project&type=Bitbucket

I just get the error "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (sourcetree) isn't associated with any program"

When I open the registry with regedit I see no entry under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT for "sourcetree".

I have tried to run the installer several times, but it seems like it will not register the necessary keys in the registry in order to open sourctree: protocol links.

I got this answer from Atlassian support:

If you go in SourceTree menu Tools >> Options in the tab General, there is a checkbox labeled Use this version of SourceTree for URI association. You should ensure this is checked. In case it is, try to toggle it off and then on again, this should set the registry key.

This resolved my issue.

Terje.
