error connecting to bitbucket server via SourceTree

Michael Lindre May 8, 2018

Installed bitbucket server locally

Seems to be working.  The user is the same as Jira.

On source tree selected remote add account and bitbucket server

http://localhost:7990

Auth basic

username bitbucket = my user name

Selected refresh password and added bitbucket user password.  Get insufficient authentication credentials

Some help would be great.

Hi Michael! We'll need some more information to help you troubleshoot this issue:

  1. Which OS and Sourcetree version are you using?
  2. Have you tried logging into Bitbucket Server directly?
  3. Were you able to find any more information in the logs? You can find them at Sourcetree logfile location
  4. Can you send a screenshot?

Best regards!

Ana

Hi thanks for getting in touch.

I had the bitbucket up and running and tried to connect source tree to bitbucket.  Did not work.  The user account was from Jira and was linked to bitbucket.  On Going back to Jira I noticed there was a pop-up saying allow access to bitbucket approved that and then from the bitbucket I selected clone and select source tree and it worked.

Not sure if i could replicate the steps.

OS Windows. jira 7.9, bitbucket 5.10 source tree 2.5.5

Found the set-up unclear but got there.

Hi! So it seems from your message that the connection between Sourcetree and Bitbucket Server is working now :) Looks like you needed to approve the access to Bitbucket first so the authentication could succeed.

Kind regards,

Ana
