Windows 10, Sourcetree 2.3.5, does not start, GIT not found

Kristian Andersen November 2, 2017

I updated sourcetree to version 2.3.5 and after a reboot, sourcetree will not start - it says "Git not found". It does not help to reinstall GIT.

What to do?

Hi

How far does Sourcetree get before displaying that message. Can you add a screenshot of the error?

Hi,

I was forced to revert to a previous version, so I can't provide a screen shot. The program does not show its main screen. However, I was presented a menu with a few options to resolve the issue of GIT not being found. One option was to install GIT. Another option was to manually point to GIT in case sourcetree didnt find it by mistake. The last option (as I remember) was to use sourcetree without GIT.

Installing GIT again did not change anything. I completed the installation, but a restart still gave me "GIT not found"

I then tried the second option to manually point to GIT but I was not event presented a file browser - nothing happened.

Hope this will help you.
