Why won't SourceTree display differences for certain non-binary files?

- June 21, 2017

I'm working on a project that contains .cfg and .txt files among other file types, when a file of either of these types is changed locally and is selected in SourceTree's File Status tab or a file is selected in the Log/History diff viewer the blue loading wheel will spin endlessly never showing the file. I've tried saving the files with several different encoding types but they won't show up in either of these places, thanks.

Hi

Is it possible the files are Unicode/UTF encoded? Git only diffs ASCII files.

Hi Michael, pretty sure every file is encoded with UTF-8. I've gone through and saved them all as UTF-8 with Notepad++ and the when I change the files others still work and the cfg and txt files do not.
