Unable to push to/fetch from remote

Jayant November 19, 2014

I am working on the SourceTree version 1.6.11.0 for Windows (7). I am trying to push some changes to the remote origin (GitHub) from my local machine, and I get the following error. In fact, I get this error for every command for the remote.

git -c diff.mnemonicprefix=false -c core.quotepath=false push -v --tags --set-upstream origin dev:dev
Pushing to <link>
/usr/lib/git-core/git-remote-https.exe: error while loading shared libraries: ?: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Completed with errors, see above.

Really appreciate any help! Thanks.

Found a workaround. SourceTree was configured by default to "Use System Git" (Tools -> Options -> Git -> Git Version), which in my case was the git installed with Cygwin. Started working when I changed it to "Use Embedded Git", and then "Update Embedded Git".

One possibly important point - I just updated SourceTree to the latest version.
