Top level push/pull vs push/pull from the sidebar.

Prakash Nadar February 13, 2012

The top level push/pull button does a remote check (not sure for what), runs a spinner and the sets up the dialog to pull/push the currently checked out branch.

My question is, what is sourcetree doing to check with the remote before pull/push the currently checked out branch?

For pull, it's making sure it can show you any new branches that you might not have fetched yet. For push, it's populating the drop-downs of the remote branch side so you know everything that's on the remote.

But this has been changed for 1.3.2 which will be out soon, please see https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/SRCTREE-864
