SourceTree not logging in to BitBucket - saying password is wrong but it's right!

Kosta Kondratenko December 12, 2017

Hi,

I've just created a private repository on BitBucket and would like to clone it with SourceTree for my local computer.

I've clicked on 'Clone in Sourcetree' from the Readme file that was automatically created.

http://prntscr.com/hmr7uu

That opened up SourceTree and prompts me for the password for 'HeadStudios' (which I assume is the password for my BitBucket account).

However when I enter the password it does not authenticate me.

I even changed my password from my Atlassian account:

And then logged back into BitBucket with the updated password. I even confirmed the username is correct:

http://prntscr.com/hmr8yr

So why isn't it allowing me to login?

Hi Kosta! Can you let us know the following so we can help you?:

  1. Are you using Sourcetree for Windows or Mac?
  2. Are you using Bitbucket Cloud or Server?
  3. Where in Sourcetree are you trying to enter your credentials?

The instructions in the article Connect your Bitbucket account might help you.

Let us know!

HI Ana,

Thank you for your reply. In the mean time I have fixed the issue by switching to an SSH connection and so it no longer asks me for the password.

This issue is now solved for me and I consider this ticket closed.

Best,

Kosta
