SourceTree (1.8.1) spontaneously switches to the Commit view all the time

Seems I can't stay in the repository overview. As soon as SourceTree detects that a file has changed (or sometimes seemingly because it just feels like messing with me), it forces me over to the Commit view. An extremely annoying "feature" that I have not found a way to disable. I'll go to the Commit view when I'm good and ready.
Any advice?
