I have a local repository that I would like to remove but I cannot find any instructions on how to accomplish this

Within Sourcetree you just close the corresponding tab and remove the bookmark by right clicking the bookmark. You are asked whether you just want to remove the bookmark or completely remove the repository form your local disk.

If you just want to remove a local repository you would just need to delete the folder containing the repository
