Refreshing unstaged files

When I have SourceTree 1.6.12.0 (Windows 7) open on my git repository, and then edit some files, and then go back to SourceTree, they do not immediately show in the Unstaged files panel.  My workaround for this is to currently click the Log / History tab and then immediately the File Status tab which seems to trigger a refresh.

Is there a better way to do this?

First of all, make sure you have Tools\Options\"Refresh automatically when files change" switched on.

Secondly, the easiest way to manually force a refresh is by pressing F5.

SourceTree does not refresh it's interface when the application does not have focus. Try simply clicking the title bar of the program, or in a blank area, and wait 1-2 seconds to see if the interface refreshes.
