Is safe to delete old versions present on 'Application Support' directory?

dafi January 11, 2014

My ~/Library/Application Support/SourceTree directory contains ~300Mb of older versions.

My SSD is small so 300Mb are precious, can I delete these files safely?

Hi dafi,

As long as you only delete the version backups, so in that directory make sure you don't delete the following:

  • sourcetree.license: this is your license file which is needed
  • hostingservices.plist: this stores your saved hosts
  • actions.plist: this stores your custom actions
  • browser.plist: this stores what's in your bookmarks

Other items are non-essential, but if you can keep other items around then it may be of benefit to you, i.e. openWindowList (stores which windows are open). You can get rid of the SourceTree backups of the application though, they seem to stick around sometimes which is an issue we have open to resolve.

Hope that helps
