I upgraded to the latest version for Windows (1.6.17). Now when I am in the search view the Edit options are all greyed out. How do I turn them back on?

I uninstalled 1.6.17 and went back to 1.6.16 and still all of the Edit options are greyed out.  They are only greyed out when I go to the window in the bottom right hand corner.  If I search for a previous checked in issue, find it and then click on the link the files that were changed show at the bottom.  The files that were changed show in a list on the left side and then you can click on each file and see the changes in the bottom right window.  I used to be able to cut and paste the changes in the bottom right window.  Now cannot cut and paste from that window.  Same with the Log/History view.  I really need this to work.  Is there some hidden button somewhere?
