I have been granted read access to a bitbucket repository, but I cannot clone it using SourceTree.

Bob Ensink August 26, 2017

I have been granted read access to a particular bitbucket repository - this has been checked and reconfirmed to be true.

I am now trying to clone that repo using SourceTree.

When I enter the source URL for the repo of interest, SourceTree prompts me for my credentials again and again and eventually fails with an Authentication Error.

I am able to authenticate and clone my own repositories.

I found and fixed the issue, I was using the wrong form for the source URL.  It should look something like this...

https://myusername@bitbucket.org/otherusername/otherreponame.git

It might be something entirely different.

Have a look at the sourcetree log file.
