How to get Sourcetree through proxy when username contains @ sign

Phil Boyd November 17, 2016

Our school just upgraded the method for authentication for our proxy. Our new usernames now contain an @ sign in them, and it appears that this maybe causing some issues.

Actual problem: Cannot get through the proxy, whether using manual or OS settings from the Network config page. Couldn't auto install git, can't clone a repo now that I've manually installed my own git, as Sourcetree can't get through the proxy to check my bitbucket.

I am absolutely certain of my username, password and the proxy details. Windows already has a fully set up and ready proxy config saved locally, but it apparently can't use that (or isn't for some reason). Even manually telling it the proxy address it just either gives error 407 or when cloning says "Proxy authentication required".

same problem here. I've tried URL escaping by changing "@" to "%40" but that didn't work either.
