How to downgrade SourceTree to 2.0 or 2.1?

Daniel Wendler February 16, 2016

The new SourceTree 2.2 often freezes (OSX 10.10.5), mostly when trying to resize or move the window. It can only be closed/restarted via kill command from the terminal.

The text is harder to read (file lists, commit messages, tag lists, ...) and they removed important things like the git-flow button.

I can't work with this version, it's too unstable and beta, I need to downgrade  u r g e n t l y .

Can someone provide me with a link to download an older version?

Hi Daniel,

Previous versions can be downloaded here:

Windows: https://t.co/eUjyR0DA

Mac: https://t.co/CAMwjd8vE

The team is already working on a fix for the current problems.

Best regards,

Peter

For Windows version it seems that it doesn't work to uninstall 1.8 and reinstall 1.7. I guess config file format has changed or something as it's giving me an error when i try to run.

In order to make it work, you have to a clean install smile Then add your repository, remotes etc

What exactly do you need to remove to get 1.7 to work again?  I have deleted everything in the Atlassian folders in AppData, but SourceTree still crashes on startup.

had to downgrade because of instability issues.

Hi @Stu Yarrow,

I'll be honest: I don't know what you need to remove in Windows to get 1.7 back.

Please create a ticket at support.atlassian.com for more help.

Cheers,

Peter

I managed to get it working by uninstalling 1.7 and 1.8, deleting the Atlassian folder in AppData, rebooting, and reinstalling 1.7.  The reboot was the key for me.

Is this link verified/safe to download ? can you post a MD5 for the binary ?

Hi Sahil,

I don't have the MD5 for the binaries, but here are the same links on the sourcetree domain:

Mac: http://downloads.atlassian.com/software/sourcetree/SourceTree_2.1.dmg

Windows:https://downloads.atlassian.com/software/sourcetree/windows/SourceTreeSetup_1.7.0.32509.exe

Cheers,

Peter

I'm having the same issue that Stu was having yesterday, except when I uninstall 1.7 and 1.8, delete the Atlassian folder in AppData, reboot, and reinstall 1.7 it still crashes.

As an additional fix, not all systems or all users have internet access. The forced attempts to altassian.com prevent the product / solution from being used in these environments. Please allow the product to load without this requirement.
