How do you launch the Sourcetree application

Gregg Myer September 19, 2018

I loaded the installed the .exe file, and in starts a source tree application but it seems to be web based.  It does not show up on the start menu, nor the task bar.  The only way I can get to the application again is to re-install it.

Hi

Sourcetree installs to %localappdata%/Sourcetree

In that folder should be a sourcetree.exe. This is actually a wrapper to the real sourcetree.exe which is in %localappdata%/sourcetree/app-{version}. This wrapper includes update checking process and provides a consistent path for shortcuts etc while the actual .exe moves with each installed version.

The installer should create a start menu shortcut, but if not can you run %localappdata%/Sourcetree/sourcetree.exe and then when running pin to the start menu or taskbar.

If it fails to run can you check for any log messages in the Event Viewer or in %localappdata%\Atlassian\Sourcetree\sourcetree.log

Thanks
