How do I remove and stop SourceTree from running in the background of my Bitbucket account?

Maria Jackson January 10, 2018

Too much trouble to authenticate it. Would rather just use command line. Don't want it anymore.

Hi Maria! Why do you find it so difficult? Have you had any trouble following the steps at Connect your Bitbucket account.

Regarding your question, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "stop SourceTree from running in the background of my Bitbucket account". Do you want to uninstall it? If so, you can perform a clean uninstall by following the steps:

-Windows:

  1. Wipe Sourcetree preferences.
  2. Uninstall Sourcetree (if it shows on the App&Features list)
  3. Backup then delete the directory below before proceeding with next step:
    • Navigate to C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local and delete Sourcetree & Sourcetree-Settings folder
    • Navigate to C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Atlassian and delete all Sourcetree Files/ folder.

- Mac:

  1. Wipe SourceTree preferences
  2. Uninstall SourceTree (if it shows on the App&Features list)
  3. Delete the directory ~/Library/Application Support/SourceTree

Let us know if you have questions!

Best regards,

Ana
