Github login issue

Ian Chan July 1, 2013

After the recent series of Sourcetree upgrades, it appears that my SSH keys no longer work with Sourcetree. The application now repeatedly asks me for the GitHub account password and fails to save the password even though the 'save...' checkbox is selected.

Steve's answer helped me resolve the issue. The correct repo link was "ssh://git@github.com/<repo-username>/<repo-slug>

Yes, you're right. SSH in Sourcetree is working on PC now. Thanks for your prompt reply.

You actually wouldn't get a username / password box for SSH, since SSH uses keys on GitHub, so this suggests you're actually using a HTTPS URL. HTTPS should still work though, I can use a HTTPS login here for my GitHub account on Windows, but maybe there's some confusion here between SSH keys and SSH passphrases and your main login details?

Please let us know what HTTPS URL you're trying to use and whether it includes the user name. If it doesn't, SourceTree will use a default one based on prior logins (and display this in the login box).

I am using https for my GitHub repos. I am not using ssh://user@github/orgname/reponame. Should I?

The login issue is with the Windows 7 version. It's working fine on my Mac.
