Cannot launch SourceTree 1.9.6.1 on Windows 7 (x64)

I upgraded SourceTree to 1.9.6.1, and ever after the app has failed to launch.

Here are the symptoms:

  No error messages.

  SourceTree.exe runs for less than 3 seconds.  I watch it appear and disappear in the task manager.

  SourceTree.log does not get written to upon launch/crash.

  Re-installing does not fix the problem.

I was able to fix the problem by deleting C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Atlassian\SourceTree\  .

I lost my preferences/bookmarks, but now I can run the app.
