All files show as unstaged on a samba drive

Noam Shanny October 25, 2015

I've added a working copy of a repository cloned on a shared samba drive of a linux server. Most SourceTree functionality seems to work normally, except for that in the "File Status" tab I see all the project's files as "unstaged", although I haven't touched any of them.

Is there any way to fix / work around this?

You mean re-clone the samba repository to a local clone and add that to SourceTree? It behaves the same.

But i found that if i do "git config core.filemode false" – it solves the issue.

This has been asked many times before.

To summarize, you should use that server as a remote, not as network-mounted "local" drive.
