Able to commit but unable to push

Salvatore Florio August 8, 2018

I am able to log into Bitbucket and commit from Sourcetree but, when trying to push, I obtain the following error message. The authentication data used are accurate.

"git -c diff.mnemonicprefix=false -c core.quotepath=false --no-optional-locks -c credential.helper= -c credential.helper= [REDACTED]
fatal: HttpRequestException encountered.
An error occurred while sending the request.remote: Invalid username or password. If your organization manages your account or you've enabled two-step verification, create an app password to log in: https://confluence.atlassian.com/x/9DJmMQ
fatal: Authentication failed for [REDACTED]
Completed with errors, see above."

Removing the password file (as described in the link below) worked. The file can be found in:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Atlassian\SourceTree
