Clicking on an old commit to cherry pick, results in endless spinner - cannot get ANYTHING done!

I have a large number of commits to cherry pick and merge, and whenever I click on one of the old commits, the spinner appears and I cannot do anything for minutes at a time.  It is going to take me FOREVER to get anything done.  The app needs to be programmed not to hang like this, or I am going to need to look elsewhere for a GUI tool :-(

Can you specify what version of SourceTree and on what OS you are running to help you?
