jira datacenter upgrade in aws

Why don't you provide scripts for the upgrades in aws? Shall not be all this manuell step that you shall go through. Not good at all. Please start think the same here as for other things. It shall be automated not manuell procedures!

Hi Daniel,

From looking at the documentation there are some steps which involve you choosing options manually, e.g.:

  • In the AWS console, go to Services > EC2 > Instances, and select the jumpbox that you just launched.
  • You have to ssh from your machine

This shows customization that wouldn't be easily scripted unless there is a variable for the jumpbox held in AWS? that can be expanded in code, however, the ssh connection can't be scripted by our developers.

If you don't need to host it on AWS yourself you can opt for a hosted instance.  This will relieve you of the need to ever update JIRA again.  In addition:

  • Atlassian oversees the setup, infrastructure, security and maintenance of your instances.
  • Customize your integrations with add-ons.
  • Instant access to new feature releases.

You can definitely create a Feature Request/Suggestion on JAC to see if the developers will build something like this.  If you do create the Suggestion please paste the link in this thread so other Community members can vote on the issue and add impact.

Cheers,

Branden
