I have to do the following to import a license:

Within SourceTree select from the menu bar "SourceTree > Registration", click "Import License" to import the downloaded the license file.

But my version of Source Tree does nothave such a menu bar item or menu item.

So my question is do I really need to import a licence, and if so how ?

Yep, same here... looks like nobody is able/ willing to help here, wonder if any of the Atlassian team ever looks on the forum though.
