Universal Plugin Manager in generic webapp

I have a webapp where I have embedded the plugin framework to handle some extension points. I would like to have a GUI to manage the plugins and the Universal Plugin Manager looked like a good choice. Is it possible/recommended to run the UPM in a non jira/confluence, etc, environment? If so, has anyone done so? I have successfully installed the Felix web console, but I'd like to explore the UPM. Thanks!

The UPM actually runs on more Atlassian libraries than just the plugin framework. At this point, it isn't really feasible to run the UPM as a separate application unfortunately.
