Unable to edit priority in a Jira Service Desk request Edited

I would like to be able to manually edit the 'Priority' of a request but I can only do it through a batch process. How can I get the 'pencil' icon like the one next to labels in the screenshot (attached) to appear next to status?

I am an admin on the project and on the whole Jira system.Screen Shot 2017-06-13 at 4.51.34 PM.png

Make sure the priority is on the "edit" screen for the issue type in that project.
