UPM throws an error when trying to look at upgrade or JIRA Upgrade Check but allows installation of new plugins

I am looking to upgrade from v4.4.1#660-r161644 to 5.2.3, but before doing so wanted to ensure plugin compatibility. When I try and use the UPM for this, I get the error: An error occurred while connecting to the Atlassian Plugin Exchange. For more information about this problem, please refer to the UPM documentation. I have looked at the UPM documentation, and it talks about proxies etc, something we do not use within my company.

I have checked and I can access the following via http and https:

* marketplace.atlassian.com

* maven.atlassian.com

* plugins.atlassian.com

* *.cloudfront.net

Curiously I can install new plugins using the UPM, so I must have some connectivity to the MarketPlace, but once I have installed the plugin I cannot check for upgrades. The server that JIRA is installed on is a Windows machine, that has full access to the internet via http and https

I cannot find any error messages that UPM is outputting in any of the log file locations, is there anything I can do to get UPM to output the actual problem it is having? I do not understand why I can install a new plugin, but not check for upgrades to existing ones!!!

Any help is greatly appreciated

Fixed...

I downloaded the latest UPM and installed via file upload, a restart of JIRA and we are able to use the UPM to upgrade plugins and check for compatibility etc
