Hi,

We have some users in our Jira instance, and we want to connect our jira users list to a LDAP in order to synchronize Jira users passwords.
We've already tried to connect our Jira to a LDAP, but it added all LDAP users to the users table in the database. And none of them was in Jira.

But what I really want is to synchronize jira users passwords with existing passwords in the LDAP.

Thank you.

Hi Bastien

Form the box ,JIRA doesn't have the option to import the remote password from LDAP. Just users, groups and membership objects are imported.

Linking JIRA with LDAP, during the user authentication process, the token session are validated by the remote system after sending the user account and given password details provided through login.jsp page. So, if the user account name in JIRA for those users are matching to the related account in LDAP side, you don't need to import their password in order to use LDAP credentials.

For further details, perhaps the following documentation could be helpful:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Connecting+to+an+LDAP+Directory#ConnectingtoanLDAPDirectory-DiagramsofSomePossibleConfigurations

Anyway, perhaps you should raise a new support ticket for an advanced assistance.

Cheers,

Paulo Renato
