Some of my users cannot use the @ mention capabilities

Tor Flatebo August 9, 2012

e.g. <user_name> cannot use @ mentions, but almost everyone else can. <other_user_name> said that it didn't work for her at first, but now it is.

<user_name> tested in FF14, IE9 and recent Chrome. I watched her, and it didn't work.

* She can manually use the ~user mention, but the using @user doesn't resolve to the correct macro or give her the flyover menu

Is there a permission that needs to be applied to have mentions work?

We are in On Demand, so we are using 5.1.

Support answered this question, it turns out that not all of my users had the Global Permission "Browse Users" which is needed to mention people since that is what brings up the flyover menu to select users.

This makes sense if you have a very large organization and if you have contracters that you don't want browsing your user list, but we now have an "Internal Users" group that I granted the Browse Users to and it solved my problem.

Browse Users global permission

So, it has to do with your groups and global permissions setup.

Which Jira version are you using? We had this issue too then with some update it got fixed and short time later it was broken again.

With 5.1.1 it works perfect for us.
